Prayer to Christ the King
O Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You as universal King. All that has been made has been created for You. Exercise all Your rights over me.
I renew my baptismal vows, renouncing Satan and all his works and pomps. I promise to live as a good Christian.
In particular, I pledge myself to work, to the best of my ability, for the triumph of the rights of God and Your Church.
Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer You my poor actions to obtain the acknowledgment by every heart of Your sacred kingly power.
In such a way, the Kingdom of Your peace may be established throughout the universe.
Amen.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Feast of Christ the King?
The Feast of Christ the King takes place on the last Sunday of the Catholic liturgical year. Therefore, Catholics celebrate it on the Sunday before the First Sunday of Advent.
In particular, the feast celebrates:
- Jesus Christ as King
- Christ’s sovereignty over all creation
- The Kingdom of God
- Christ’s authority and kingship
- The end of the liturgical year
- Preparation for the season of Advent
Historically, Pope Pius XI established the feast in 1925. At that time, he presented the celebration in response to secularism and nationalism and to emphasize Christ’s kingship.
In addition, the feast encourages Catholics to reflect on Christ’s place in their lives. As a result, it provides a meaningful opportunity for prayer, worship, and renewed devotion to Christ the King.
Finally, the celebration leads directly into the beginning of Advent and a new Catholic liturgical year.
Can I order in bulk for my parish or ministry?
Yes. Cards are available in packs up to 100 for standard orders. For custom print orders, the minimum is 1,000 cards with approximately a 5-day turnaround, and higher quantities are available for parishes, schools, retreats, feast-day events, and other Catholic ministries.
A Mission Behind Every Card
Every ShopCatholic purchase helps support a mission centered on faith, service, compassion, and giving.
ShopCatholic was founded by Shawn Kilgarlin, a wife, mother of four, mental health clinician, and life coach.
Every Christmas Eve, Shawn donates thousands of gifts to those in need through Holy Angels. She also volunteers at addiction treatment centers, offering grounding boxes and group classes.
Her children, Loyola University students, and local high school students help make gift bags for families in need.
When you purchase a Kilgarlin prayer card, you become part of that mission of giving.
