🌿 About St. Francis of Assisi

Born in 1181 in Assisi, Italy, Francis renounced his wealthy family’s fortune after a profound conversion experience and founded the Franciscan order. He is known for his deep love of nature, his care for the poor, and his mystical union with Christ — including receiving the stigmata in 1224. He was canonized just two years after his death in 1226. His feast day is October 4th, and he is the patron saint of animals, ecology, and Italy. Pope Francis took his name in his honor.
