Magnificat Kilgarlin Laminated Prayer Card
When Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth, the Holy Spirit moved her to sing — and what poured forth was one of the most beautiful prayers in all of Scripture. The Magnificat is Mary’s song of praise, her declaration that God lifts up the lowly, fills the hungry with good things, and is faithful to His promises across every generation. It has been prayed by the Church every evening at Vespers for two thousand years.
This Magnificat laminated prayer card brings that ancient canticle into your hands — to pray, to meditate on, to share with those who need to be reminded that God sees them and has not forgotten them.

The Prayer
The Magnificat (Luke 1:46–55)
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
for He has looked with favor on His lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is His Name.
He has mercy on those who fear Him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of His arm,
He has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of His servant Israel
for He has remembered His promise of mercy,
the promise He made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever. Amen.
A Mission Close to Our Hearts
ShopCatholic was founded by Shawn Kilgarlin — wife, mother of four, mental health clinician, and Life Coach — whose heart for giving is as much a part of this brand as the cards themselves. Every Christmas Eve, Shawn donates thousands of gifts to those in need through Holy Angels. She volunteers at addiction treatment centers, and her children, Loyola University students, and local high school students help make gift bags for families in need. When you purchase a ShopCatholic prayer card, you are participating in that mission. Your purchase helps Shawn continue her work of giving — quietly, faithfully, year after year.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Magnificat and where does it come from?
The Magnificat is Mary’s canticle of praise found in Luke 1:46–55, spoken when she visited her cousin Elizabeth. It is one of the oldest and most beloved prayers in the Christian tradition, prayed daily by the Church at Evening Prayer (Vespers) as part of the Liturgy of the Hours. Its themes of humility, justice, and God’s faithfulness make it as powerful today as when Mary first sang it.
How do I use this prayer card?
Keep it in your Bible, Liturgy of the Hours, or missal as a bookmark. Use it as a daily evening prayer or a moment of Marian reflection. It makes a beautiful gift for anyone who prays the Divine Office, loves Scripture, or is deepening their Marian devotion. These cards are laminated for durability — built to accompany years of faithful prayer.
Can I order these in bulk for a parish, school, or ministry?
Absolutely. Standard packs go up to 100 cards. For larger needs, custom print orders start at a minimum of 1,000 cards, take approximately 5 days, and can be ordered in any quantity. When Pope Francis visited the United States, he ordered 15,000 copies of the "Praying with Five Fingers" card — a testament to the power of the prayer card as a tool of evangelization.
